Reading the Banns
Your banns of marriage will be read in the parish church where you going to be married. They are usually read one or two months before the wedding.
If you live in a different parish to the one where you are going to get married then your banns must also be read in the parish where you live and you will need to make arrangements with the local clergy to make sure that happens. Afterwards you will be able to collect a banns certificate as proof that the banns have been read and you will need to take the certificate to the vicar who is marrying you.
You can not be married without this certificate - this is a legal requirement. The clergy will explain the details to you.
