St Mary’s, Snibston is a place of peace and silence and off the beaten track. The church stands along St Mary’s lane next to Grange Farm in Snibston. It is kept open during daylight hours as a place for prayer and reflection. Visitors are welcome at any time.
There is one regular service of Holy Communion held in the church each month (8.30am on the third Sunday. Other special services are held on particular occasions during the year. St Mary’s is also still available for weddings and baptisms.
St. Mary’s is a small medieval church standing on an ancient religious site. It may have been the chapel to a priory that stood where the farm house now stands. It has been altered across the years but it is still delightful. Recently a paschal candle was placed in St Mary’s as a tribute to its sister church St James’ Snibston, which was closed in 2007. The candle stand was carved from the former altar of St James’ Church.
Take some time to visit this gem of a church and enjoy the peace you will find.
