Parish Newsletter - July 2017
An introduction to Chris Haywood, our new curate and his wife, Georgie.
I am delighted to serve my Curacy in the Parish of Hugglescote, with Ellistown, Donington and Snibston. I am very much looking forward to working with Olwen as well as serving and getting to know the Parish and the members of the churches during my time with you. It will be a privilege to further explore my vocation and develop in my ministry with you over the duration of my curacy.
My wife Georgie is also looking forward to being a part of your community during this time. We have been married 15 years. I am a Podiatrist by background and an experienced NHS Manager of 23 years standing. Georgie continues to work as a Diagnostic Radiographer, part time. She is currently looking for work in one of the local hospitals. She is also looking forward to serving in the parish and discerning her own ministry. She is especially committed to praying for the persecuted church.
My sense of God in my life and ministry has depended considerably since I started on my journey towards ordination. Whilst still grounded in my evangelical roots I have come to appreciate and incorporate a breadth of worship styles and traditions into my 'spirituality'. This is an aspect of ministry I am particularly keen to explore further during my time with you.
I have a particular heart for outreach and I am keen to listen and learn about the initiatives the parish is taking in this regard. I am keen to explore how mission will enable us to grow and shape us as a Church. I am also looking forward to gaining experience leading services and preaching as well as developing my pastoral skills. I am keen to be a visible presence in the community, witnessing to Christ in my ministry.
I am also Chairman of a charity:
Hope International Development Agency UK -
raising funds for water projects in Ethiopia. We are currently raising money to supply fresh water to two isolated villages in Southern Ethiopia: Alugude and Durbe.
In my free time I can be found walking, indulging my passions of cooking, the arts especially art house cinema, photography and sport – and I'm a Birmingham City Fan. We are greatly mourning giving up our allotment and hope we can find somewhere to cultivate in Ellistown!
